Squirrel Hill pedestrian dies from injuries after being hit by car on Monday

An 84-year-old woman from Squirrel Hill that was struck by a vehicle nearly a week ago died Saturday at UPMC Mercy.

A spokeswoman with the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office said this morning that Merlene Young was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Murray and Darlington avenues at 1:54 p.m. Monday, June 27. She died of those injuries Saturday.

No cause or manner of death has been listed as yet, according to the spokeswoman.
