City man dies after car hits utility pole

A Pittsburgh man died Sunday from injuries he received in a vehicle crash Saturday night in the city.

A spokesman for the Allegheny County medical examiner identified the victim as Richard Smith, 43.

The accident happened at 9:23 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Trip Way and Hawridge Way when Mr. Smith lost control of his vehicle and it struck a telephone pole, according to the spokesman. He died at 1:22 a.m. this morning at UPMC Mercy.

Police could not be reached immediately.
